What you enter stays on your device
Before You Buy has no accounts. The products, prices, notes, photos and decisions you add are saved in your browser or phone storage on your device. We do not receive them and the app does not upload them. Because they live only on your device, we cannot recover them for you. Use Export backup under Your data to keep a copy. Clearing browser data or deleting the app erases them.
Photos
When you choose a photo of a product or label, it is read by the app on your device and saved there. It is not sent to us.
Links and affiliate disclosure
Some links to stores may be affiliate links. If you buy through one, Vilasi, Inc. may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Verdicts never use commission; they use only what you entered. When you open a link, that retailer's own privacy policy applies.
Visits to our website
When you visit the Before You Buy website, the hosting service we use loads a visitor-identification tool. It stores an identifier in your browser, records the pages you view, and may match your visit with information from third-party data providers, which can include contact and demographic details, so we can recognize visitors and follow up. It may also use advertising-measurement tools from companies such as Meta and Google. A notice on the website lets you opt out, and we treat a browser Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out. Visitors in Europe and the UK are asked before anything runs. You can also opt out, or ask what we hold about you, by emailing us at the address above. This applies to the website, not to what you enter in the app.
Purchases
If you buy Before You Buy Pro in the iPhone or Android app, Apple or Google handles the payment. We never see your card or bank details.
To check and restore what you have bought, the app uses RevenueCat, Inc. as our purchase processor. RevenueCat receives a random app user ID created on your device, the store receipt, the product bought, purchase and renewal dates, price and currency, your country or region, and basic device and app version details. This purchase information is linked to that random ID, not to your name or email, is used only to provide and restore your purchases, and is never used for advertising or tracking. Your products, notes and decisions are never sent with it. When the app opens, it checks your membership and loads plan prices through RevenueCat using that random ID, even if you never buy anything.
You can manage or cancel a subscription in your Apple Account or Google Play settings, and use Restore Purchases on the plans screen on a new device. To ask for purchase records to be deleted, write to us at the address below.
Your choices
You can export or erase everything at any time under Your data. You can also write to us with any question.
Changes
If we add accounts, syncing or anything that sends information off your device, we will update this policy first and ask before it applies to you.
